Graduate Internship – Infrastructure & Engineering (24 months)

About the role

The Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) is recruiting graduate interns for its IZP and PICC programmes in Gauteng. This is a 24‑month internship designed for unemployed graduates who want practical workplace experience, professional mentorship and career development. The programme provides structured training and exposure to infrastructure, engineering, finance and project development.

Required profile

• Relevant National Diploma, Degree or Honours in Built Environment, Infrastructure Economics, Finance and Development, Project and Programme Management, Environmental and Sustainability Studies (PICC) or in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Electrical Engineering (IZP).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office with strong Excel skills.
• Knowledge of technical software relevant to the chosen discipline.
• Ability to work on‑site for the full 24‑month period.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Advanced Excel functions.
• AutoCAD (for Electrical Engineering candidates).
• WinQS, QSPlus, CostX, Candy or Bluebeam Revu (for Quantity Surveying).
• MS Project or similar scheduling software.
• Civil 3D, Civil Designer or related engineering software.
• Familiarity with JBCC, GCC, NEC or FIDIC contract standards.
• Understanding of relevant SANS engineering standards.
