Graduate Apprentice Operating Department Practitioner (BSc ODP)

About the role

This three‑year Graduate Apprenticeship delivers a Bachelor of Science in Operating Department Practice (BSc ODP) while you are employed within NHS Grampian. You will split your time between online taught modules, practice placements and reflective learning across a range of peri‑operative settings.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake clinical placements in general surgery, ENT, obstetrics, anaesthesia and recovery areas.
• Complete online and classroom learning modules provided by the University of the West of Scotland.
• Apply theoretical knowledge to real‑world patient care, maintaining aseptic technique and patient safety.
• Participate in experiential and reflective learning activities and assessments.

Required profile

• Current Healthcare Support Worker or new NHS employee.
• Five qualifications (minimum three at Higher level or equivalent SVQ/HNC/HND).
• English language proficiency equivalent to IELTS overall band 7 (no element below 6.5).
• Eligibility for SAAS funding or willingness to self‑fund the academic fees.
