General Worker (Casual Pool)

About the role

Elgin Poultry Abattoir is looking for motivated and reliable general workers to join its casual pool in Grabouw. The role involves supporting daily operations in a fast‑paced food production environment, ensuring high standards of quality, hygiene and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with processing and packaging of free‑range poultry products.
• Perform dressing, trimming, cutting, deboning and filleting of poultry.
• Carry out value‑adding tasks and prepare raw materials for production.
• Issue raw and packaging materials, weigh and grade products.
• Clean work areas and package finished poultry items.
• Follow all food safety, hygiene and quality standards.
• Report any food safety concerns to the supervisor.
• Undertake any additional duties assigned by management.

Required profile

• South African ID and be at least 18 years old.
• Valid bank account and minimum Grade 12 qualification.
• Good attendance, time‑keeping and ability to follow instructions in English or Afrikaans.
• Honest, reliable, trustworthy with strong personal hygiene.
• Commitment to food safety standards and readiness to start immediately.
