General Manager – Used Car Marketplace & Operations

About the role

We are seeking a General Manager to lead our fast‑growing used‑car marketplace in South Africa. Reporting directly to group leadership, you will own the South African P&L and be responsible for driving profitable growth, operational discipline, and an excellent customer experience across sales, sourcing, operations, marketing and support functions.

Key responsibilities

• Full P&L ownership and financial performance management.
• Define and execute a local growth strategy aligned with the Group vision.
• Drive sales performance and inventory rotation.
• Oversee sourcing, reconditioning, pricing and margin optimisation.
• Ensure strong cash flow and cost control.
• Build, structure and lead high‑performing teams.
• Develop strategic partnerships with banks, insurers, fleet owners, etc.
• Represent the company externally and strengthen brand positioning.

Required profile

• 8‑15+ years of leadership experience.
• Proven experience managing a profitable business unit or country operation.
• Strong financial acumen and P&L management capability.
• Experience in automotive, marketplace, retail, fintech or asset‑heavy businesses.
• Demonstrated ability to scale operations in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong people leadership and execution mindset.
• Entrepreneurial, hands‑on, results‑driven attitude.
