General Manager - iTravel (Travel Management Company)

About the role

The iTravel General Manager leads, manages and oversees the strategic, operational, financial and commercial performance of the Travel Management company. Reporting to the Group Chief Operations Officer, the role ensures operational excellence, profitable growth, exceptional client service and compliance with industry standards. It is a full-time, office-based position in Randburg with occasional travel.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the TMC's strategic business plan, identify new business and partnership opportunities, and drive revenue growth through corporate sales, product diversification and innovation
• Oversee day-to-day operations, service delivery and workflow efficiency, ensuring SLAs are met and improving standard operating procedures
• Manage technology platforms (GDS, OBTs, CRM, reporting systems) and oversee budgets, forecasts, cost control, billing, reconciliations and supplier contracts
• Monitor key financial indicators such as NPM, revenue per consultant and cost-to-income ratios
• Build relationships with corporate clients and travel suppliers, lead contract renewals and performance reviews, and resolve escalated client issues
• Lead teams across operations, sales, finance and support, including training, development, succession planning and performance reviews
• Ensure compliance with IATA, labour laws, data protection and financial controls, and manage business risks and operational audits

Required profile

• Grade 12 / Matric essential; Bachelor's degree in Tourism Management, Business Management, Commerce or a related field; postgraduate qualification (MBA or similar) advantageous
• 8-12 years in the travel and tourism industry, including at least 5 years in senior leadership or management in a TMC environment
• Proven record in business development, operations and financial management
