GCC Engineer – Section 2.13.1 Mine Engineer

About the role

The company based in Rustenburg/Boshoek is looking for a qualified GCC Engineer to act as the mine’s appointed Section 2.13.1 Engineer. You will hold statutory responsibility for the mechanical and engineering integrity of the operation and ensure compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act.

Key responsibilities

• Hold the statutory Section 2.13.1 appointment for the operation.
• Sign off on all plant changes, new installations and repairs before use.
• Conduct regular on‑site inspections in line with statutory requirements.
• Provide technical guidance to site management and engineering staff.
• Assist with and review monthly statutory engineering reports.
• Liaise with the DMPR and other regulatory bodies regarding engineering compliance.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, sign‑offs and compliance actions.

Required profile

• Valid Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) – Mines and Works.
• Proven experience acting in a Section 2.13.1 (or equivalent) capacity at a mine or similar operation.
• Sound working knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and related regulations.
• Experience with plant machinery installations and repair sign‑off processes in a mining environment.
• Willingness to be based at or regularly travel to the Boshoek/Rustenburg site.
• Desirable: experience in silica, coal or similar mineral processing operations and experience mentoring junior engineering staff.
