Front of House Manager

About the role

We are looking for a dynamic leader to run the front of house at Moody Lagoon Restaurant, situated on the Bot River lagoon at Benguela Cove Wine Estate near Hermanus. The role combines busy service management with full control of the point‑of‑sale, stock and margins, offering a unique blend of guest‑facing and back‑office responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Hire, train, roster and develop the front‑of‑house and bar team.
• Deliver a seamless guest experience from daily lunches to large 200‑cover events.
• Administer the point‑of‑sale system, managing products, categories, costs and margins.
• Conduct monthly stock‑takes, analyse beverage gross profit and collaborate on buying with the Head Chef.
• Oversee wine service, from floor selection to the Vinothèque library.

Required profile

• Three + years managing a busy front‑of‑house operation with full people‑management responsibility.
• Strong numerical aptitude – able to calculate gross profit and spot irregularities in spreadsheets.
• Hands‑on experience with point‑of‑sale administration.
• Solid wine knowledge or a keen desire to develop it quickly.
• Own transport, as the estate is 20 minutes outside Hermanus with no public bus service.

Required skills

• iKentoo POS (or equivalent such as Lightspeed, GAAP, Micros, Pilot).
• Proficiency with spreadsheet tools for financial analysis.
