About the role
The Food Garden Administrator provides administrative and operational support to the Food Garden, ensuring that activities, resources, produce, and related information are well organised, accurately recorded and effectively coordinated. The role supports the smooth day‑to‑day operation of the Food Garden through effective administration, stock coordination, produce tracking and communication with relevant teams, while also providing practical support when required.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate and maintain accurate records of planting, harvesting, produce distribution, stock levels and garden activities.
- Monitor and manage stock levels of seeds, seedlings, compost, fertiliser, tools, equipment and other supplies, assisting with procurement.
- Collect and distribute harvested produce to internal departments, ensuring proper handling and storage.
- Support volunteers, interns and participants, providing practical assistance with garden tasks and maintaining clean, organised work areas.
- Track production and wastage, identifying opportunities to improve resource efficiency and support sustainable food‑growing practices.
Required profile
- Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
- Previous administrative experience, preferably in a food garden, agricultural, horticultural or hospitality environment.
- Strong organisational and record‑keeping skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Good numerical, planning and time‑management abilities, able to prioritise multiple tasks.
- Proactive, reliable and self‑motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team.
