Fire & Wet Services Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Fire & Wet Services Engineer to join our consulting engineering team. You will be responsible for designing and delivering fire protection and water‑related services across commercial, industrial, residential and mixed‑use projects.

Key responsibilities

• Design fire protection systems such as automatic sprinklers, hydrant/hose‑reel networks, fire pumps, water storage tanks, fire detection coordination and smoke‑control interfaces.
• Design wet services systems including domestic cold/hot water reticulation, sanitary drainage, stormwater drainage, rainwater harvesting and water‑storage/booster solutions.
• Prepare detailed engineering calculations, specifications, reports and shop‑drawing reviews.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary designs with mechanical, electrical, structural and architectural teams.
• Ensure compliance with South African National Standards (SANS), municipal regulations and building codes.
• Participate in client meetings, design coordination sessions and site inspections.
• Provide construction support during installation, testing, commissioning and project close‑out.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians as required.

Required profile

• BEng/BSc/BTech in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in fire protection and wet services design within a consulting environment.
• Proven experience delivering building‑services projects from concept through construction.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to project sites.
