Financial Controller (Newly Qualified CA(SA))

About the role

Our client, a fast‑growing professional services and advisory group, is looking for a newly qualified Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) to take charge of financial control across its expanding portfolio of companies. The role combines day‑to‑day accounting leadership with strategic group reporting, tax compliance and process automation.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting functions including invoicing, debtors, payroll, vendor management, fixed assets and treasury.
• Provide maternity‑cover leadership for the Financial Manager, managing the accounting team and daily operations.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, profitability analyses and consolidated group financial statements with inter‑company eliminations.
• Execute corporate tax computations, SARS eFiling, VAT reconciliations, dividend tax and provisional tax filings.
• Maintain company registers, draft board resolutions and ensure CIPC compliance.
• Lead the external audit process and manage year‑end close for all entities.
• Act as the liaison for B‑BBEE verification, maintain the scorecard dashboard and identify rating improvement opportunities.
• Own and enhance financial systems such as Xero and Draftworx, driving automation and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Chartered Accountant (SA) registration (CA(SA)).
• 0–2 years post‑qualification experience.
• Strong practical knowledge of South African tax regulations.
• Hands‑on attitude with a willingness to lead and innovate.
