Financial Controller (Live-in)

About the role

Our 5‑star private game reserve in Paterson, Eastern Cape is looking for a hands‑on Financial Controller to join the executive finance team. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will safeguard financial integrity, drive profitability and support lodge managers with timely information while overseeing daily transactional workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accurate monthly financial reports and balance‑sheet reconciliations, analysing variances against budget and presenting findings to senior management.
• Assist in the annual budgeting process and periodic re‑forecasting, collaborating with department heads and shareholders.
• Manage daily cash flow and liquidity, execute transfers to optimise interest earnings, and process all payments through the banking platform.
• Reconcile balance‑sheet accounts, post monthly journal entries (accruals, provisions, depreciation) and ensure inter‑company transactions are settled.
• Prepare and submit VAT and PAYE returns, maintaining full compliance with South African tax legislation.
• Supervise the Accounts Payables function and ensure timely processing of invoices.

Required profile

• Mid‑level finance professional with proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting and cash management.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to identify trends, risks and opportunities.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines.
• Experience working in a dynamic, hospitality‑oriented environment is an advantage.
