Financial Controller

About the role

A well‑established property organisation is looking for an experienced Financial Controller to lead its finance team. The role is fully office‑based and focuses on financial control, reporting and ensuring the accuracy of all financial operations within the property portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee financial accounting and reporting across the property portfolio.
• Prepare and review monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Ensure accurate and timely month‑end and year‑end reporting.
• Manage general ledger, balance‑sheet reconciliations and financial controls.
• Analyse property‑level performance, income, expenditure and profitability.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow management.
• Monitor property‑related expenses and recoveries.
• Ensure correct accounting for rental income, operating costs and property transactions.
• Utilise MDA Property Management System for accurate financial reporting and data integrity.
• Prepare reporting packs for senior management and support annual audits.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, controls and efficiencies.
• Partner with operational and property teams to provide meaningful financial insights.

Required profile

• CA(SA) qualification (essential).
• Minimum 3 years post‑articles experience with strong financial accounting and reporting background.
• Proven experience in the property industry.
• Hands‑on experience with MDA Property Management System.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical/problem‑solving abilities.
