Financial Controller

About the role

We are seeking a highly detail‑oriented Financial Controller to join a leading South African organisation. The role will manage daily accounting operations, ensure compliance, and drive continuous improvements within the finance function.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and process monthly journal entries.
• Assist with external and internal audits.
• Perform bank, supplier, customer and general ledger reconciliations.
• Maintain the fixed‑asset register and calculate depreciation.
• Prepare VAT, PAYE, UIF and other statutory working papers.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow reporting.
• Analyse costs, investigate variances and recommend improvements.
• Identify opportunities to automate repetitive finance tasks.
• Provide ad‑hoc financial analysis and support special projects for the Finance Manager.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years of commercial accounting experience.
• Experience in manufacturing or FMCG environments is advantageous.
• B.Com Accounting or equivalent qualification.
• SAICA or SAIPA articles – non‑negotiable.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel.
• Proficiency with ERP accounting systems such as Power BI, SAP, Sage, Syspro and Microsoft Dynamics.
• Strong knowledge of South African VAT, PAYE and UIF regulations.
• Understanding of BOM costing and stock inventory management.
