Financial Controller – FMCG

About the role

We are partnering with a high‑growth FMCG business in the food and beverage sector to find a Financial Controller based in Springs, Johannesburg. The role is primarily office‑based with some flexibility, offering the opportunity to shape finance operations from the ground up.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day finance operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchase order authorisation, bank reconciliations and payment cycles.
• Develop and implement financial SOPs, internal controls and governance frameworks.
• Manage ERP and reporting platform implementation and optimisation.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, cash‑flow forecasts and financial reports for local and international stakeholders.
• Oversee revenue recognition, rebate calculations and retailer‑specific accounting.
• Ensure compliance with South African tax legislation, including company tax calculations.
• Lead contract reviews, negotiations and support tender processes while flagging legal risk areas.
• Manage, mentor and develop the finance team, setting objectives and conducting weekly meetings.

Required profile

• Post‑graduate accounting qualification (BCom Hons or equivalent) minimum.
• Completed articles (SAICA, SAIPA or equivalent).
• At least 5 years post‑articles experience with strong FMCG exposure.
• Proven experience in a financial controller or senior finance management role.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge including IFRS and South African tax.
• Experience managing a finance team.
