Financial Controller – FMCG Consumer Products

About the role

A leading South African consumer products business in the fast‑paced FMCG and distribution sector is seeking an experienced Financial Controller. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will own the financial administration function, drive debt‑collection discipline and support cross‑functional growth.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full accounts receivable function, enforce debt‑collection policies and reduce overdue debt.
• Prepare weekly debtor‑ageing reports and cash‑flow forecasts for senior management.
• Automate financial processes, including debtor reminders, collection workflows, dashboards and reporting tools.
• Lead or support ERP implementations, system enhancements and ensure accurate, auditable financial data.
• Oversee month‑end closing, internal controls, reconciliations and financial governance.
• Mentor junior finance and administration staff and partner with Sales, Marketing and Operations to embed financial discipline.

Required profile

• BCom in Accounting/Finance or equivalent with at least five years of senior financial management experience.
• Hands‑on experience in accounts receivable, debtors and credit control, managing high‑volume ledgers.
• Proven track record of implementing debt‑collection procedures and maintaining DSO below 45 days.
• Minimum three years of Sage Evolution experience and advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
• Experience mentoring finance staff and influencing non‑finance teams.
