Financial Accountant

About the role

A leading mining house based in Centurion is in search of an Accountant to manage and oversee the financial operations of the company, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong financial controls, compliance with statutory requirements, and providing financial insight to support strategic and operational decision-making.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of all financial records
• Prepare and manage monthly management accounts timeously and accurately
• Prepare annual budgets and periodic reforecasts
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and statutory requirements
• Manage VAT, PAYE, income tax, and other statutory submissions
• Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies
• Ensure adherence to internal financial controls and policies
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions
• Manage payroll preparation
• Review payment runs
• Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules
• Monitor cash flow, working capital, and forecasts

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
• SAICA articles compulsory
• 3+ years’ relevant accounting or finance experience
• Strong working knowledge of accounting principles and taxation
