Financial Accountant (BCom) – Full‑time in Durban

About the role

We are looking for a qualified Financial Accountant to manage the complete accounting function for a stable, long‑standing organization in Glenashley, Durban. The role reports to the Finance Manager and offers the opportunity to lead a small team while maintaining full ownership of financial processes.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and present accurate financial statements and management accounts.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable, cash‑flow monitoring and bank reconciliations.
• Manage month‑end and year‑end closing activities, ensuring compliance with statutory deadlines.
• Coordinate VAT returns and South African tax filings.
• Develop and maintain internal controls and support audit processes.
• Lead, coach and develop junior accounting staff.
• Partner with business units to provide financial insights and support decision‑making.

Required profile

• BCom degree in Accounting or Finance (articles advantageous).
• 5–7 years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or senior role.
• Strong knowledge of South African tax legislation and VAT.
• Proven ability to work independently and deliver results with high accuracy.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel.
• Proficiency with ERP accounting systems.
