Finance Manager – Automotive

About the role

The Finance Manager will lead the finance function for an automotive business operating in South Africa. Reporting to local senior management and the China headquarters, you will ensure compliance, provide strategic financial insight, and support operational excellence across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure all financial records and statements comply with South African GAAP/IFRS and manage revenue recognition in line with IFRS 15.
• Oversee month‑end and year‑end closing, reconciliations, statutory reporting and internal controls.
• Maintain full tax and statutory compliance with SARS, prepare returns, handle audits and identify tax planning opportunities.
• Produce detailed financial analysis, variance and profitability reporting, and drive budgeting and forecasting aligned with headquarters.
• Act as the primary finance expert for operational issues, partnering with sales, logistics and after‑sales teams to streamline processes.
• Manage and develop local finance staff or coordinate with shared service centres, and liaise with external auditors, tax advisors and banks.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CA(SA), CIMA or equivalent highly preferred.
• 8–10 years of progressive finance experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial role.
• Extensive experience in the automotive industry, particularly in vehicle sales or dealership operations.

Required skills

• Expert knowledge of SA GAAP, IFRS 15 and South African tax regulations.
• Proficiency with ERP systems, especially SAP.
• Advanced Excel skills for complex financial modelling.
