Finance Controller

About the role

The Finance Controller will own end‑to‑end accounting and finance functions for the South African operations of a global pharmaceutical company. Reporting to the Head of Finance, the role supports business heads, commercial teams and external partners with financial analysis, budgeting and cash management.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare statutory financial statements in line with local GAAP, IFRS and corporate templates, including segmental P&L.
• Develop forecasts, cash‑flow projections and balance‑sheet schedules.
• Partner with business units on profitability analysis, business case development and vendor/customer negotiations.
• Manage cash, budgeting and long‑range planning (3‑5 years).
• Coordinate stock reconciliation with 3PL, distributors and contract manufacturers.
• Lead internal and external audits, tax audits, VAT, transfer‑pricing and statutory compliance.
• Oversee a small finance team and ensure accurate FP&A reporting.
• Support ERP and Business Intelligence tool implementation.

Required profile

• Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in financial accounting, FP&A, tax compliance and business support, preferably within the pharmaceutical sector.
• Proven experience managing a finance team and handling statutory audits.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of IFRS and local GAAP.
• Expertise in ERP implementation and Business Intelligence tools.
• Advanced MS Excel skills and proficiency with the full MS Office suite.
• Experience with accounting software and financial reporting systems.
