Finance and Operations Analyst

About the role

A well‑established boutique financial services/fund manager business is seeking a Finance & Operations Analyst to join its close‑knit team. This hands‑on role is ideal for an accurate, dependable and highly organised professional with a genuine interest in both finance and operational processes.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts together with detailed supporting schedules and provide variance analysis with commentary.
• Assist with month‑end closing, budgeting cycles and cash‑flow management to ensure timely financial reporting.
• Manage debtor and creditor processes, issue client invoices, monitor outstanding balances and follow up on overdue payments.
• Perform regular account reconciliations, investigate discrepancies and resolve them in collaboration with internal teams.
• Support fund accounting activities, including NAV reviews, cash and investment position reconciliations, and fee calculations.
• Review reports received from external administrators and custodians, and liaise with third‑party service providers to address queries.
• Process and verify trade allocations across portfolios, conduct operational reconciliations and data integrity checks.
• Maintain and continuously improve operational procedures, controls and documentation to enhance efficiency.

Required profile

• BCom degree in Finance, Accounting or a related discipline.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in finance, accounting and/or operations.
• Fund accounting experience is highly advantageous.
• Background in asset management, financial services or another regulated environment is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a small team.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Exposure to Python for data manipulation or automation.
• Familiarity with SQL or similar data‑query tools.

What we offer

• Salary range: R400k – R600k per annum.
