Finalisation and Publishing Supervisor

About the role

The Finalisation and Publishing Supervisor will lead daily manuscript post‑acceptance production and publication activities for an education‑sector client. Working closely with authors, editors, reviewers and production teams, the role ensures high‑quality standards throughout the publishing workflow.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise a team of language editors, proofreaders and production staff, assigning tasks and monitoring progress.
• Ensure edited manuscripts meet language, grammar, style and journal guidelines.
• Coordinate editing and proofreading processes, manage revisions based on author feedback.
• Oversee galley proofing, reviewing typeset proofs for accuracy and consistency.
• Manage the full publication pipeline, aligning with schedules and deadlines.
• Develop and implement production schedules to guarantee timely releases.
• Identify and implement workflow improvements to streamline editing and production.
• Provide training, coaching and performance evaluations for the team.
• Control budget, enforce quality and customer‑service standards, and liaise with other departments as needed.

Required profile

• Proven supervisory experience in publishing, editorial or production environments.
• Strong knowledge of scholarly publishing standards and journal style guidelines.
• Excellent organizational, communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Ability to lead, motivate and develop a diverse editorial team.
• Experience managing budgets and production schedules.
