Field Technician - Wireless Systems

About the role

A small, close-knit team supplying, installing and supporting wireless communication systems for hospitals, retirement villages, restaurants, retail stores and corporate environments in South Africa is looking for a hands-on field technician. The position is based in Radiokop, Roodepoort (Gauteng), with travel throughout Gauteng and occasionally to other regions.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure and commission wireless communication systems at customer sites
• Provide on-site and remote technical support
• Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair equipment
• Complete service reports, job cards and related documentation
• Assist with equipment testing, refurbishment and quality control
• Provide customer service and basic user training
• Manage and follow up on support tickets and service requests

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Valid driver's licence with at least 2 years' driving experience
• Fluent English, with the ability to communicate in Afrikaans verbally and in writing
• Willing and able to travel throughout Gauteng and occasionally elsewhere, including air travel and overnight stays (approved business travel expenses covered)

Required skills

• Good computer literacy: Microsoft 365, CRM systems, online ticketing platforms and electronic service reporting
• Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and manage workload
• Advantageous: electronics fault finding, PCB soldering, multimeter use, RF systems, basic networking, Ubuntu Linux, and experience with CRM, helpdesk, ticketing or field-service systems

Working conditions

• Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 17:00; overtime and occasional weekend work may be required
• Company vehicle provided for business travel only; uniform, tools, laptop and mobile device provided
