External Sales Consultant – Building & Hardware

About the role

We are a well‑established wholesaler and specification company seeking a professional External Sales Consultant to join our dynamic team. You will be responsible for managing and expanding a strong retail customer base across the Eastern and Southern Cape, delivering technical support and driving sales growth in the building and hardware sector.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and grow an established retail customer portfolio.
• Take over existing projects and generate new pipeline opportunities.
• Engage architects, engineers, contractors, retailers and installers through regular visits and calls.
• Record comprehensive call reports using our CRM system.
• Deliver product presentations to building professionals.
• Coordinate with internal sales admin and procurement to fulfil urgent orders.
• Resolve customer queries promptly and provide technical product support.
• Achieve individual sales targets.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of sales experience in hardware, building materials or related fields.
• Proven track record of calling on architects, engineers and contractors.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Self‑motivated, resilient, with excellent time‑management and negotiation abilities.
• Fast learner eager to expand product knowledge through weekly training.
• Valid driver’s licence and reliable personal vehicle.
• Clear criminal and work history.
