Experienced Theatre Registered Nurse (2 positions)

About the role

The Registered Nurse will deliver safe, cost-effective patient care within the theatre department of La Verna Private Hospital. The role involves direct and indirect nursing care, planning and supervising patient care, and ensuring compliance with hospital standards and infection-control policies.

Key responsibilities

• Provide patient care in accordance with the nursing scope of practice and assume full responsibility for assigned activities.
• Maintain accurate records that meet legal requirements and hospital policies.
• Ensure a therapeutic and safe environment by adhering to health-safety standards and infection prevention protocols.
• Manage theatre stock, ensuring proper charging, crediting and control.
• Participate in handover reports at shift start and be flexible to work day and night shifts.
• Deliver holistic care and maintain positive relations with patients, relatives and visitors.

Required profile

• Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse.
• Minimum two years of theatre experience, scrubbing for all major surgical disciplines.
• Flexibility to work varying shifts and ability to perform under stressful conditions.
• Capability to implement and maintain health practice standards and relevant legislation.

Required skills

• Operating Room Science knowledge (advantageous).
• Proficiency in surgical scrubbing techniques across major disciplines.
• Stock management and control within a theatre setting.
