Experienced Millwright – Food Manufacturing (Western Cape)

About the role

Our client, a leading food manufacturing company in the Western Cape, is seeking a trade‑tested Millwright with at least five years of post‑trade experience. The role focuses on maintaining and optimizing production equipment in a fast‑moving consumer goods environment.

Key responsibilities

• Install, assemble and disassemble machinery according to blueprints and technical specifications.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance and respond to breakdowns to ensure continuous operation.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults on production and plant equipment.
• Repair or replace defective components using hand and power tools, including welding and fabrication as required.
• Align, calibrate and commission machinery to meet operational standards.
• Maintain accurate records in the CMMS, tracking repairs, parts inventory and maintenance activities.
• Collaborate with production and maintenance teams while adhering to safety and GMP/FSSC‑HACCP standards.

Required profile

• Red Seal Millwright certification (N3–N6) and residence in the Western Cape.
• Minimum five years of post‑trade experience in the FMCG or food manufacturing sector.
• Hands‑on experience with refrigeration systems, including ammonia spiral freezers, gyro units and cold rooms (R‑22, Freon).
• Familiarity with formers, Form Fill and Seel machines.

Required skills

• PLC programming and troubleshooting, HMI operation, VSD control, 24 V circuit knowledge.
• Mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics and welding.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, electrical drawings and blueprints.
• Strong fault‑finding skills for both mechanical and electrical issues.
