Experienced Gastro Unit Clinical Nurse (RN)

About the role

The Clinical Nurse (RN) will join the Gastro‑enterology unit at Netcare Unitas Hospital, providing holistic, person‑centred care to patients, families and the wider community. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, applying evidence‑based nursing theories and practices to deliver safe, high‑quality care.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualized nursing care for gastro‑unit patients.
• Act as a clinical resource, supporting staff in documentation, care planning and patient advocacy.
• Coordinate communication between families, health professionals and nursing management to resolve care issues.
• Deliver advanced nursing interventions in line with unit SOPs and medical direction.
• Initiate and manage emergency treatment (RESUS) across the hospital as required.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN) with current South African registration.
• Experience working in a gastro‑enterology or similar specialised unit.
• Strong ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent communication skills with patients, families and health‑care professionals.

Required skills

• Patient assessment and care planning.
• Advanced nursing procedures specific to gastro‑enterology.
• Resuscitation (RESUS) and emergency response.
• Documentation and electronic health record management.
