Experienced Fibre Technician – FTTH & Structured Cabling

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Fibre Technician to join our team in Cape Town. The role involves installing, testing and commissioning fibre optic and structured cabling infrastructure for FTTH, FTTB, enterprise and backbone projects.

Key responsibilities

• Install fibre optic infrastructure for FTTH, FTTB, enterprise and backbone networks.
• Perform cable routing, termination and commissioning.
• Carry out fusion splicing and fibre jointing to industry standards.
• Conduct OTDR, power‑meter and continuity testing.
• Install and maintain structured cabling systems (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A and fibre).
• Fit patch panels, cabinets, racks and network enclosures.
• Diagnose and resolve fibre network faults and connectivity issues.
• Read and interpret network diagrams, cable schedules and technical drawings.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and quality standards.
• Complete installation reports, test results and project documentation.

Required profile

• National Diploma or equivalent in IT, Telecommunications, Electronic or Electrical Engineering.
• CompTIA Network+ certification.
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
• Certified Fibre Optic Technician (CFOT) or equivalent.
• Certified Premises Cabling Technician (CPCT) or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Fibre Technician on FTTH/FTTB or enterprise projects.
