Experienced Clinical Nurse – Ward 5

About the role

The Professional/Clinical Nurse will be responsible for delivering holistic, person‑centred nursing care to patients in Ward 5 of Netcare Pretoria East Hospital. The role involves coordinating care within a multidisciplinary team, acting as a clinical resource, and ensuring safe, high‑quality treatment for both routine and emergency situations.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualized nursing care, documenting all actions in accordance with hospital SOPs.
• Serve as a clinical resource, supporting staff in delivering and recording patient care.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians and other health professionals, acting as patient advocate when needed.
• Initiate and manage emergency treatment (RESUS) across the ward and coordinate with the medical team.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, develop nursing care plans and ensure continuity of care.
• Contribute to policy development, quality and risk management, and resource allocation within the unit.

Required profile

• Registered Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council.
• Thorough knowledge of general and specialized nursing theory and practice.
• Extensive experience in delivering modern nursing care principles.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and maintain high standards of patient safety.
