Experienced Clinical Nurse – Gynaecology Ward

About the role

The Clinical Nurse (R/N) will provide specialised, person‑centred nursing care on the Gynaecology Ward of Netcare Femina Hospital. This full‑time position requires an experienced professional to coordinate care within a multidisciplinary team and act as a patient advocate.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as a clinical resource, assisting staff with assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and documentation of nursing care.
• Ensure effective communication between families, health professionals and nursing management to resolve patient‑care issues.
• Assess, plan and deliver advanced nursing care in accordance with SOPs, nursing theory and medical direction.
• Initiate and direct emergency treatment (RESUS) for any patient in the hospital.
• Interview patients and families to gather background information, identify problems and determine immediate and long‑term needs.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, conduct physician rounds, develop and update individualised care plans.
• Prepare shift documentation reflecting patient status, staffing ratios and identified problems.
• Contribute to policy and procedure development, quality and risk management, and resource allocation.

Required profile

• Registered Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council.
• Thorough knowledge of general and specialised nursing theory and practice, especially in gynaecology.
• Extensive understanding of modern nursing care principles and procedures.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and maintain high standards of patient safety and quality care.
