Executive Manager: Fire Safety Services

About the role

The City of Ekurhuleni is seeking an Executive Manager to lead its Fire Safety Services division. This senior position is responsible for strategic planning, administration, and overall performance of fire safety and emergency services within the municipality.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic plans for fire safety services, aligning with the division’s direction.
• Oversee administrative functions to ensure short‑, medium‑ and long‑term organisational objectives are met.
• Maintain effective administrative systems and processes for fire safety operations.
• Lead the Emergency Services Fire Safety Section, managing performance and direction.
• Ensure governance and risk management compliance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
• Oversee financial governance and processes in line with municipal regulations.
• Promote a culture of customer‑service excellence, safeguarding lives and assets without bias.
• Continuously assess personal performance and uphold ethical dealings with stakeholders, adhering to fair labour practices.

Required profile

• Grade 12 qualification.
• National Diploma or Higher Diploma in Fire Technology (SAESI) or equivalent.
• National Treasury Minimum Municipal Competency (MFMA).
• OHS Manager, SAMTRAC, ASTRAC or equivalent certification.
• Presiding/Presenting Certificate for disciplinary matters.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• At least 10 years of relevant experience, including 2 years as a manager in a metropolitan fire/emergency service.
