Entry-Level Paralegal (Intern) – Youth Employment Service

About the role

This is a 12‑month entry‑level Paralegal internship designed for unemployed South African youth aged 18‑34. The placement provides hands‑on experience in a busy legal environment, full training, and a monthly stipend of R7,500.

Key responsibilities

• Assist attorneys with drafting, filing, and organising legal documents such as contracts, pleadings and briefs under supervision.
• Maintain client case files, ensuring accurate and accessible documentation.
• Perform general administrative duties including scheduling appointments, managing calendars and handling client inquiries.
• Act as a reliable point of contact between clients, attorneys and other stakeholders.
• Conduct basic legal research using online databases to support case work.
• Provide overall administrative support to ensure smooth practice operations.

Required profile

• South African unemployed youth, 18‑34 years old, who have not previously participated in the YES programme.
• Matric qualification; a Paralegal Diploma, Higher Certificate in Law or related qualification is advantageous.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook.
