Enterprise Architect Specialist

About the role

Vodacom is seeking an Enterprise Architect Specialist to provide architectural guidance across its technology portfolio. The role will support the evolution, upgrade and deployment of Vodacom’s technical platforms, ensuring alignment with business strategy and industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Enterprise Architecture team and broader Technology Group to co‑produce Vodacom’s long‑term Enterprise Architecture.
• Develop technical evolution roadmaps for multiple domains, considering standards, market trends and business needs.
• Design target architectures that transform the technology landscape in line with corporate strategy.
• Communicate architectural outputs through documents, presentations, workshops and reports to stakeholders at all levels, including C‑suite.
• Facilitate peer reviews and provide guidance to fellow architects.
• Produce professionally written, globally‑recognised documentation for all initiatives.

Required profile

• Matric/Grade 12 (or SAQA‑accredited equivalent) – essential.
• 3‑year degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering (Light Current); honours degree preferred.
• 2‑5 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, with at least 2 years in architecture, systems planning or systems design.
• In‑depth knowledge of mobile telecommunications technologies, data and AI/analytics platforms, and BSS solutions.

Required skills

• Mobile telecommunications – access, transmission, core network, circuit and packet switching.
• Mobile bearer technologies (3GPP, IETF, GSMA).
• Data lakes, data lakehouse, data management and governance.
• Analytics platforms and AI/ML capabilities for data‑driven decision making.
• Telecom BSS – CRM, charging, billing, mediation, MCCM/BI, middleware and integration technologies.
