Enrolled Nurse – Theatre (Durban)

About the role

The Enrolled Nurse will work in the operating theatre at Netcare St Augustine's Hospital in Durban, providing intra‑operative patient care under the supervision of a Registered Scrub Nurse. The role focuses on ensuring patient safety and supporting the anaesthetic team throughout surgical procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain patient wellbeing during surgery.
• Prepare and check anaesthetic equipment before each case.
• Collect, control and administer scheduled medication.
• Assist doctors by preparing the theatre according to their preferences.
• Document nursing actions and report any incidents.

Required profile

• Enrolled Nurse qualification recognised in South Africa.
• Experience working in an operating theatre environment is preferred.
• Ability to work under direct supervision of a Registered Scrub Nurse.
• Strong attention to detail and patient‑centred attitude.

Required skills

• Anaesthetic equipment preparation and verification.
• Medication management and documentation.
