Enrolled Nurse – Surgical Ward 2

About the role

The Enrolled Nurse will provide direct and indirect nursing care to patients on Surgical Ward 2 at Netcare Margate Hospital. Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will contribute to high-quality patient care through assessment, planning and implementation of care programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care to individual patients and groups, following the care plan established by the Registered Nurse.
• Perform patient assessments, document observations and update records in a timely manner.
• Manage medication administration, wound care and basic clinical procedures as permitted by scope of practice.
• Maintain accurate stock records, charge supplies appropriately and ensure equipment is clean, stored correctly and reported for repair when needed.
• Support a safe, therapeutic environment by adhering to waste-management, infection-control and occupational safety policies.
• Identify and report potential risks, contribute to quality and governance activities, and uphold patient confidentiality.
• Supervise and mentor Enrolled Nursing Assistants (ENAs) as required.

Required profile

• Registered Enrolled Nurse (EN) qualification recognised in South Africa.
• Ability to work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and take accountability for own actions.
• Commitment to professional conduct, confidentiality and adherence to hospital policies.
• Strong organisational skills for documentation, stock control and equipment management.
