Enrolled Nurse – Surgical ICU

About the role

The Enrolled Nurse will provide direct and indirect nursing care to patients in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) at Netcare Ferncrest Hospital. Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the role focuses on delivering high‑quality, safe patient care while adhering to Netcare’s values of Care, Truth, Participation, Compassion and Dignity.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation.
• Manage stock levels, ensure proper charging and control of supplies.
• Assist with file compilation and administrative tasks.
• Uphold a therapeutic, clean, and safe environment free from medico‑legal hazards.
• Follow waste management protocols, including medical waste disposal.
• Ensure compliance with occupational safety regulations and report any risks.
• Oversee correct use, cleaning, and storage of equipment; report repairs.
• Maintain professional conduct, patient confidentiality, and supervise ENAs as required.
• Deliver patient care within the scope of practice, contributing to holistic care plans.

Required profile

• Qualified Enrolled Nurse registered with the relevant nursing authority.
• Ability to work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Accountability for personal actions and omissions.
• Commitment to high standards of patient care and safety.
