Enrolled Nurse – Neonatal ICU

About the role

The Enrolled Nurse will provide direct and indirect nursing care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, ensuring high‑quality patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation and manage stock levels.
• Ensure a therapeutic, clean and safe environment, adhering to waste‑management and occupational safety standards.
• Deliver patient care within the Enrolled Nurse scope, participate in handovers and follow infection‑prevention protocols.
• Supervise and support Enrolled Nursing Assistants (ENAs) and contribute to their education and training.
• Report identified risks, equipment issues and ensure proper cleaning, storage and maintenance of clinical equipment.
• Uphold professional conduct, patient confidentiality and hospital policies at all times.

Required profile

• Registration with the South African Nursing Council as an Enrolled Nurse.
• Compliance with SANC code and relevant health‑care legislation.
• Relevant experience in nursing, preferably in a NICU or similar setting.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and CPR competency.

Required skills

• CPR certification and competence.
• Patient documentation and record‑keeping.
