Enrolled Nurse - ICU2

About the role

The Enrolled Nurse – ICU2 provides direct and indirect nursing care to patients in the intensive care unit at Netcare uMhlanga Hospital. Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will contribute to safe, high‑quality patient care while adhering to Netcare’s values of care, truth, participation, compassion and dignity.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation and manage medication and supply stock.
• Ensure a therapeutic, clean and safe environment, complying with waste‑management and occupational safety regulations.
• Report risks, equipment issues and participate in quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Deliver patient care within your scope of practice, including assessments, interventions and health promotion.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families and the multidisciplinary team during handovers and daily interactions.
• Supervise and support Enrolled Nursing Assistants (ENAs) and contribute to their education and training.

Required profile

• Registered Enrolled Nurse qualification recognized in South Africa.
• Ability to work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse in a high‑acuity ICU setting.
• Strong sense of accountability for personal actions and omissions.
• Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and professional conduct.

Required skills

• Proficiency in standard nursing procedures and infection‑prevention protocols.
• Competence in using hospital equipment and documenting patient care accurately.
