Enrolled Nurse (e/n) – Surgical ICU 2

About the role

The Enrolled Nurse (e/n) will provide direct and indirect nursing care to patients in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Netcare St Augustine's Hospital. Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the role focuses on delivering safe, high‑quality patient care and supporting the multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation reflecting all aspects of care.
• Manage and charge stock appropriately, ensuring supplies are well‑controlled.
• Assist with file compilation and support administrative tasks.
• Uphold a therapeutic, clean, and safe environment, adhering to medical waste and occupational safety regulations.
• Report potential or actual risks and ensure equipment is correctly used, cleaned, stored, and repaired when necessary.
• Supervise Enrolled Nursing Assistants (ENA) and act in a supervisory capacity as required.
• Deliver patient care within the scope of practice, contributing to holistic patient wellbeing.

Required profile

• Qualified Enrolled Nurse (e/n) registered with the appropriate nursing authority.
• Ability to work under the direct or indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Accountability for personal actions and omissions.
• Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and professional conduct.

Required skills

• Knowledge of medical waste management principles.
• Competence in equipment handling, cleaning, and storage procedures.
• Understanding of stock control and documentation standards.
