English Language Arts (ELA) Instructional Specialist

About the role

The English Language Arts (ELA) Instructional Specialist supports the district’s ELA curriculum and assessment implementation, working closely with schools, teachers, and administrators to enhance reading, writing, and language instruction for all students, including those funded by Title I and III.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate district‑wide ELA curriculum development and assessment rollout.
• Promote research‑based instructional strategies focused on high‑quality literacy instruction.
• Develop and compile resources for reading and writing interventions, including technology integration.
• Monitor, analyze, and disaggregate instructional assessment data to guide data‑driven instruction.
• Provide large‑group, small‑group, and individual professional development and coaching.
• Model lessons, conduct observations, and employ evidence‑based coaching techniques.
• Support the teacher induction program through facilitation, coaching, and evaluation.
• Design and evaluate job‑embedded professional development aligned with district goals and federal grant requirements.

Required profile

• Experience in curriculum development, assessment analysis, and instructional coaching.
• Knowledge of ELA standards, Title I/III requirements, and strategies for EL and off‑level learners.
• Ability to collaborate with teachers, administrators, and district staff.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
