Engineering Technician – Roads & Storm Water Infrastructure

About the role

The Engineering Technician will provide technical support and implementation assistance in the planning, design, tender documentation and contract administration of roads and storm‑water infrastructure projects. The role ensures that all engineering works comply with applicable standards, specifications and legislative requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct detailed design of roads and storm‑water systems.
• Prepare, evaluate and recommend tenders for roads and storm‑water projects.
• Manage contracts for roads and storm‑water projects executed by departmental teams and contractors.
• Administer and supervise private township development service agreements through consulting engineers.
• Oversee construction activities and materials management.

Required profile

• Three‑year tertiary qualification (degree or national diploma) in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum three years’ experience in contract management and/or roads and storm‑water maintenance.
• Supervisory experience is an advantage.
• Valid Code B driving licence.
• Computer literacy.
• Willingness to work shifts and after‑hours as required.
• Ability to undergo a criminal record check and provide fingerprints at own cost.
