Engineering Technician (Production) – Grade A

About the role

The South African Navy is seeking a qualified Engineering Technician (Production) – Grade A to join the Fleet Command Headquarters, Naval Engineering Services in Simon’s Town. The role involves system analysis, design execution, and project management within a naval environment, ensuring compliance with Class and IMO regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Executing system and subsystem advice and defects analysis service
• Executing integrated concepts and detail designs
• Executing acceptance and trials service
• Executing project/task management services

Required profile

• National Diploma in Engineering or equivalent
• At least 3 years post‑qualification technical experience
• Compulsory registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineering Technician
• Valid driver’s licence

Required skills

• Proven experience in constructive/mechanical engineering
• Knowledge of ship structures (advantageous)
• Ability to compile and present technical reports in English
• Proficiency in MS Office, CAD/Caddie and related design software
• Understanding of Class and IMO regulations (advantageous)
• Ability to read, understand and draft engineering drawings
