Engineering Technician (Production) – Grade A Constructive Design

About the role

The South African Navy is seeking an Engineering Technician (Production) Grade A to provide constructive design support at Fleet Command HQ. The role involves delivering design services, analysing defects, and managing engineering projects for naval vessels.

Key responsibilities

• Execute system and subsystem advice and defect‑analysis services.
• Develop integrated concepts and detailed designs for ship structures.
• Provide acceptance and trials support for engineered solutions.
• Manage project and task delivery to meet target dates.

Required profile

• National Diploma in Engineering or a related qualification.
• Minimum three (3) years post‑qualification technical experience.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Compulsory registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Professional Engineering Technician.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD/Caddie design software.
• Strong command of the MS Office suite.
• Knowledge of ship structures and naval engineering concepts.
• Familiarity with Class and IMO rules and regulations.
• Ability to read, understand and draft engineering drawings.
• Project management and research & development capabilities.

• Salary range: R391 671 – R418 332 per annum.
