Engineering Manager – Mining Projects (PMP/SACPCMP/PMI)

About the role

The Mining business unit of a consulting firm seeks an Engineering Manager to provide technical leadership across mining projects from concept through close‑out. The role combines mechanical engineering expertise, conveyor‑belt system knowledge, and proven project‑management credentials.

Key responsibilities

• Manage engineering delivery for mining projects from concept study, pre‑feasibility, feasibility, detailed design, EPCM execution, construction support, commissioning, handover and close‑out.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams covering mechanical, bulk material handling, civil, structural, electrical, control & instrumentation, process, geotechnical, project controls, procurement and construction support.
• Provide technical governance on conveyor‑belt and bulk‑material handling infrastructure, including overland and plant conveyors, transfer stations, chutes, feeders, bins, crushers, screens, stackers and reclaimers.
• Review and guide conveyor‑belt design deliverables: design basis, capacity calculations, belt tension, power requirements, drive selection, pulley/idler selection, belt speed, dynamic considerations, transfer point arrangements, maintainability, operability and safety.
• Act as the single point of contact between the company and client engineering representatives for scope, technical deliverables and design interfaces.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in mining‑related engineering projects, both brownfield and greenfield.
• Strong mechanical engineering judgement and proven competence in conveyor‑belt design.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Relevant professional certifications such as PMP, SACPCMP or PMI.
