Engineering Manager (ECIS)

About the role

ABB is looking for an Engineering Manager (ECIS) in Johannesburg, reporting to the Operations Manager. The role manages a team of designers and engineers delivering high-quality, cost-effective and timely engineering solutions to customers, within the Automation Process Industries in South Africa, mainly serving the AUPI team's project and service business. The work model is hybrid.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direction to the engineering team with a focus on functional safety, cybersecurity, on-time delivery, quality and margin improvement.
• Ensure projects and operations follow sound methodology and execution practices in line with internal standards, and that projects are closed according to contract specifications.
• Initiate, coordinate and oversee continual improvement of processes and procedures, using agile methodologies to shorten engineering lead time and strengthen functional safety and cybersecurity.
• Drive team performance so deliverables are met on time and to the required safety, cybersecurity and quality standards.

Required profile

• 5 years of experience in electrical or electronic engineering.
• Degree in Engineering, with proven practice in electrical, electronic and software engineering.
• Enjoyment of engineering resource assignments, team competency development, projects and service engineering, and sales support.
• Interest in the Materials & Mining, Metals & Power Conversion, Pulp and Paper process industries markets.
• Comfortable communicating in English and holds a current South African driver's licence.

• Enhanced knowledge of ABB electrification and automation products and services.
• Passion for engineering resource management.
