Energy Regulatory Attorney – Remote Contract

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Energy Regulatory Attorney to provide specialized legal counsel on federal and state energy regulations. This remote contract role supports a leading global energy entity in navigating complex compliance matters, regulatory filings, and policy development.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on compliance with FERC, state public utility commissions, and environmental standards.
• Draft and file petitions, motions, and other regulatory documents in energy‑related proceedings.
• Analyze proposed tariffs, rate cases, and regulatory proposals to assess legal risks and formulate strategic responses.
• Represent the client in meetings with regulators, industry groups, and stakeholders to advocate for favorable outcomes.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting the energy sector and brief leadership on emerging issues.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active bar membership in any U.S. jurisdiction, preferably with energy regulatory experience.
• Proven experience in energy law, including familiarity with FERC regulations and state utility law.
• Strong analytical and writing abilities to interpret complex regulatory frameworks.
