Energy Project Manager

About the role

Arup is seeking an experienced Energy Project Manager to lead renewable energy projects across Johannesburg or Cape Town. The role will coordinate multidisciplinary technical teams, manage stakeholder relationships and ensure delivery of high‑quality outcomes for complex wind, solar, transmission and distribution projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed project execution plans and schedules.
• Coordinate technical activities and align them with organisational objectives.
• Ensure compliance with design standards, regulatory, environmental and permitting requirements.
• Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Maintain strong relationships with government entities, communities, suppliers and contractors.
• Monitor progress, report to senior management and enforce quality‑control measures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (master’s degree advantageous).
• Relevant certifications such as PMP, CEM, SACPCMP or equivalent.
• Proven experience in renewable energy projects (wind, solar, transmission, distribution).
• Demonstrated ability to manage large, multidisciplinary projects from inception to completion.
