Electrical Engineer – Steel Manufacturing (Netherlands)

About the role

A leading international engineering company is looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to support electrical systems in a modern steel manufacturing environment. You will handle design, reliability, automation, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and capital projects to keep production safe and efficient.

Key responsibilities

• Design, maintain and optimise electrical systems for heavy‑industrial manufacturing.
• Support plant reliability through preventative and corrective maintenance.
• Troubleshoot electrical, automation and control system faults.
• Manage PLCs, motors, drives, instrumentation and power distribution networks.
• Lead improvement and capital projects from design through commissioning.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality and engineering standards.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis to minimise downtime and improve equipment performance.
• Collaborate with production, maintenance and engineering teams to drive efficiency and cost savings.

Required profile

• Native‑level Afrikaans proficiency.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in heavy‑industrial or steel manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of electrical distribution, PLCs, automation, motors, VSDs and instrumentation.
• Experience with preventative maintenance, root‑cause analysis and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Excellent problem‑solving, communication and project coordination skills.

What we offer

• 1‑2 year fixed‑term contract (40 h/week) with possibility of permanent employment.
• Monthly gross salary €4,357 plus shift allowance where applicable.
