Electrical Engineer – Festive Poultry Production

About the role

Festive, a leading integrated poultry producer within the Astral Group, is looking for an Electrical Engineer to ensure continuous, safe and efficient operation of its electrical and automation systems. The role focuses on maximising throughput while minimising costly downtime in a fast‑paced processing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the site’s electrical reticulation and plant automation.
• Ensure installations and operations comply with electrical standards.
• Maintain electrical equipment and mentor artisans and foremen.
• Identify training needs and deliver technical training on new and existing automation systems.
• Provide technical support for automation projects and create HMI/communication specifications.
• Comply with company safety programmes such as 20 Keys, Planned Maintenance, OHSACT and Meat Safety.
• Achieve target engineering downtime of 3% and perform standby duties.

Required profile

• BSc Electrical Engineering, BTech or Diploma.
• ECSA registration as Professional Engineer or Technologist (or working towards it).
• Minimum 5 years experience in an FMCG environment post‑qualification.
• Familiarity with intelligent motor starters and computer literacy.
• Own transport; supervisory management training and food‑industry experience are advantageous.
