Electrical Engineer – Building Services (Pretoria)

About the role

Our client, a multidisciplinary consulting engineering firm, is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer/Technologist to lead building services design for projects in Pretoria. The role requires ownership of electrical deliverables from concept through construction and commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Lead electrical design activities for building services projects, producing 2D, 3D and Revit drawings.
• Prepare calculations, single‑line diagrams, schematics, layouts and full technical documentation.
• Compile design criteria, specifications, equipment and cable schedules, and support BOQ and cost documentation.
• Review designs for technical accuracy, quality and compliance with standards.
• Conduct site assessments, field surveys and attend project meetings to provide technical input.
• Support installation, testing, factory acceptance testing and commissioning of electrical systems.

Required profile

• ECSA registration as a PrEng or PrTech Eng.
• Minimum 8 years of electrical design experience in building services.
• Proven experience across ECSA Stages 1–6 and both greenfield and brownfield projects.
• Experience with FAT, commissioning and willingness to travel to sites.

Required skills

• AutoCAD, Revit, Relux, ETAP, DIgSILENT.
• Design of MV/LV distribution, switchgear, lighting, small power, earthing and lightning protection.
• Generators, UPS systems, CCTV, security and access control, hospital electrical systems.
• Knowledge of solar, wind or alternative energy systems (advantageous).
