Electrical Design Engineer – Renewable Energy & Building Services

About the role

Prosperitas Personnel is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join its multidisciplinary engineering consulting team. The role involves delivering technically sound designs for both conventional building services and rapidly growing renewable energy projects across South Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Develop electrical designs, specifications, calculations and technical documentation for a variety of projects.
• Prepare electrical layouts, single‑line diagrams, schematics and equipment specifications.
• Perform load calculations, cable sizing, voltage‑drop and short‑circuit analyses.
• Assist with the design and integration of solar PV, battery energy storage and other renewable energy systems.
• Coordinate designs with architects, mechanical, civil engineers and other disciplines.
• Produce and review technical drawings and documentation.
• Conduct site inspections, investigations and technical assessments as required.
• Provide technical input throughout the project lifecycle, from concept to construction.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers and professional teams.
• Support senior engineers and project managers with technical delivery and execution.

Required profile

• BEng/BSc/BTech in Electrical Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA or progress towards registration is advantageous.
• Relevant experience in an engineering consulting environment.
• Experience in electrical building services and/or renewable energy design.
• Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and design practices.

What we offer

• CTC between R600 000 and R850 000 per annum, dependent on experience and qualifications.
